Lets get Crimsonized

Made a airplane? Zeppelin? Something in between? Here's where to put it. (Meant for any new skins/etc.etc/ and not actual new aircraft stats)

Lets get Crimsonized

Postby Sir Robin » Thu May 28, 2009 9:40 pm

I'm in a drawing mood again so figure I would play around with some designs.

First up, a crimsonized Mitsubishi A7M Reppu.

First pass so, yes, its still rough and ugly.

Nice, looks like a Japanese Phantasm.

That is sort of what I'm aiming for.
Think I'll move the vertical stabilizer to the canard tips though, to tall otherwise.
Sky Crawlers got me in a drawing mood again.

After I'm somewhat happy with the Reppu I'll work on the Heinkel He 100-112. With Bavaria being independent in my fanon, the Luftwaffe need a different front line fighter. Believe I'll keep it a tractor though. I don't like overusing the pusher layout.

Nice 3 view!
I plan on making it tonight, see what she looks like.

Quick point, I am a little confused with the engine inlet / outlet.
By the way you have drawn them I would deduce that those ports on the engine are air inlets, if that is the case then where are the exhausts.

If I can make a suggestion, I would suggest that the inlets face the other way and become exhausts and you include a large vent inlet on either side of the fuselage, on the front wing or part of the front wing.

And what location are the ailerons [apart from the obvious "on the wing, duh!], based on your wing design I would favour them on the far end for quick rolling and turning?

Thank you. :D

Hehe, not really sure.
You are right that I need an intake somewhere but was not sure where to put it and having the intakes on the engine cowling doesn't feel right.
Started working on a second pass last night but I'm getting the house cleaned for my oldest son's seventh birthday this Sunday so I have not had the chance to really give it any time yet.

My goal is too make three views of Crimsonized historical aircraft, focusing on nations that are given little coverage by canon.

Cool.
Sounds great, I look forward to seeing them.
Leave Australian Aircraft designs alone though, after looking at some of the designs you made I went and re-assesed Australian designs to see if they can be made for CS.
I am currently re-making 3 fighters and one little-know-about bomber from that period.

Sure thing. :D

For the Heinkel He 100 I probably won't do much besides gull the wings a little more and do a downward slant to the horizontal stabilizer on the tail with vertical stabilizers on the ends. Want to give it a meaner look.

Second pass on Crimsonized Reppu

Image

Not happy with the intake and can't draw a side view of wings worth a damn but I'm happier with this one.
Going a little slimmer with it and imagining it as a counter to the Phantasm and Bloodhawk but maybe a bit heavier.

Not sure what to name it though, any ideas?

Dude that is much better and thanks for fixing that nose!
I know all you did in the original drawing was flip the airframe around, but the nose was all wrong!
I was looking into different designs for it and I was going to give my own take of a P-38 nose on it.
Oh and don't worry about the intakes, I can see where you are going and I can improve upon that quite easily.
I will have something to show you tomorrow, can't today as I am minding a 2 year old.

Cool, yeah, just trying to change enough to give it a Crimson Skies "feel." :D

First pass on Crimsonized He 100.

I'm completely stuck on what to do with the tail. I'm just drawing, mentally, a blank. :(
Maybe have the tail verticals tilted outward?

I'm torn what to do next, I'm leaning towards a Macchi C.205 but the "Grey Wolf" mentioned in the Tempest text is mighty tempting. Design it in homage to the Sky Crawlers Someaka.
