Nitro injector Rules?

Postby refund » Fri Aug 21, 2009 9:26 am

Hello,

I'm designing a plane for a gaming session next weekend, and I can't remember the rules for the Nitro Injector special feature from the behind the crimson veil.
My friend who owns a copy of the game will only arrive on Sunday just in time and I would like to have my planes ready by then as to maximise playing time 8-)

Could anyone summarise the nitro rules for me?

Weight: 25 pounds.
Cost $750.
Cost per recharge: $100Xnumber of charges carried.

They can have between 1 and 5 charges.

Each time it is used, the planes max accell and speed is raised by 1 for 1 turn. At the end of that turn, a die roll is made. On a result of 1, the plane's max sped is lowered by 1.

Hope it helps!

And welcome to the crimson Skies forum!!!!!!

Thanks,
Does it really cost $750,- ? I thought it was only $250

Ow well, guess I have to rethink my concept... that's part of the fun anyway.

What type of plane are you building?

enjoy the nuts and bolts behind Crimson Skies as much as the games themselves!!!!

I'm building the SparrowHawk.

A heavy fighter in all respects, except for it's size. The plane seems to be a new plane in service of Navajo Nation, suggesting that it was designed by Ravenscroft Industries. There is however some doubt about the origin of the plane. It was first spotted over Utah, coming from the North at an altitude of just under 30,000 feet and heading for Navajo airspace. In recent encounters, the plane proved to be a tough nut to crack. Although it isn't particularly fast, nor very agile, it carries enough fire power to cripple most fighters in the first salvo or two. Pilots who stayed at it's 6 o'clock to line up that perfect shot where quickly met with clouds of exploding shrapnel. It's mayor weakness seems to be the inability to keep up with Utah's agile fighters, allowing their capable pilots to employ hit and run tactics with great success.

Airframe (30 lbs under weight limit):
Class: fighter(Pusher)
BTH: 7
Max. Gs: 2

Engine ( Rolls Royce Morgana 950bhp):
Max. Speed: 3
Max acc.: 2

Armor (350 points):
Nose: 70
Wings (leading), tail: 60
Wings (trailing): 50

Armament:
Two (2) Sperry-Browning "Hurricane" .50-caliber cannons (Guns 6 & 7)
Two (2) Durango Arms "Wolf" .40-caliber machine-guns (Guns 1 & 2)
Two (2) Durango Arms "Rattlesnake" .30-caliber machine-guns (Guns 3 & 4)

Rockets (standard load):
2x flak (front firing)
2x flash (front firing)
4x flak (reverse firing)

Special characteristics:
Linked Ammo Bins (.30 & .40)
Fire-linked weapons (all)
Light-stick (?)
(2 options left, open for suggestions :-)

Nice!

Once/if you get another 2 special characteristics, feel free to add it in the "Aircraft" section :D

Sounds like a tough fighter. I like the rea-facing hardpoints, not many people use them ;)

Yeah... they'd come as a REAL surprise to 90% of players, I think.
Would make a lot of sense as well- since the Navajo Nation is supposed to be renowned for fighting in canyons- and since it's difficult to turn in a canyon- they would also be good for fluff.
Southrons, hear your country call you!
Up lest worse than death befall you!
To arms, to arms, to arms in Dixie.

I like it. I'll be honest, I'd totally forgotten about rear facing hard points! You'd have got me with them.

Is your avatar the plane design? Your own drawing?

The plane in my avatar is the sparrowhawk described here, it's my own design.
I've since posted it on the plane hanger board
