Random Pilot Tables

Postby Phoenix » Sat May 05, 2012 2:19 am

In my ongoing effort to aid GMs running continuing Crimson Skies campaigns, I present... more random assignment tables! These tables are designed to allow you to quickly and easily generate opposing forces at any level of experience ranging from Dummy (150xp) to Ace (650xp)! The inspiration for these came from my experiences with the random pilot charts made by Topo Solitario (which I have unfortunately been unable to find again online). While his tables were serviceable, a number of the pilot results were heavily weighted towards one or two stats at the expense of all of the others (particularly the Leader table, which had 9 of 20 possible results heavily slanted). This resulted in pilots who were either laughably ineffective or hilariously deadly, depending on the stat allocation and their choice of aircraft (well, hilarious for me at least, not so much for my player). While heavily weighted pilots are good for throwing in surprises and mixing things up, their frequency is both somewhat annoying and unbelievable. As a result, I have fabricated tables of my own, with some results drawn from Topo's table and the rest created myself. I have aimed to have approximately 2/3 or 4/5 of each table consist of normal, well balanced pilots, while the rest is composed of weighted pilots for a bit of variety and surprise. When you need to generate a force, you need merely decide on the appropriate amount of xp and roll 1d10 or 1d20.

Happy flying!
