Cyagen's planes - 04 17 Update

Postby Cyagen » Sat Nov 24, 2012 8:45 pm

Hi guys,

Here is the first test model, painted, decaled and varnished.

The colour combination is horrible but it helped me a lot to learn and helped me find the final colour combination for the Sea Wolves a MP militia.

Yeah, the colors don't work for me, but the scheme looks interesting!

You are too kiind Thom...it is horrible! There is a reason why brun and orange was banned after the 70s.....

The next one is much better.

When I said "Scheme", I should have said "Pattern". I like the pattern, just do not like the choice of colors! :D

Question... is the name of the faction the A-Team? :)

Nice job, can't wait to see more.

No, it is the Sea Wolves a Maritime Provinces militia, but wait until you read the Québec Sourcebook (note to self, finish Warzone chapter) there is something for the fanboys in it...

For me, only the orange don't works...brown with red is a nice combination (thinking of something similar for a texan-squadron I'm preparing).

The paintjob itself looks great, very clean (most important with this little ones, I think).
And is this a spacewolves-decal?

But back to colors: Shouldn't a squad called "seawolves" be grey? ;)

EDIT: Did you remove the original paintjob on this wizkid-mini somehow? Some of the colors are actually "in" the plastic already, but some are painted on (quite thick in some parts), so I'm wondering. I think I will try out some spiritus, as it is strong enough to pull of regular paint without melting the plastic...at least it works on Games Workshop-Minis

@ Lupos : Yes these are Space Wolves decals. Had a couple of them lying around from my young crazy W40K days. I found the skull and bones perfect.

The name comes from the decal, not the colours. Wait until you seen a plane with the final paint scheme...I always hated de space wolves so no chance in hell... :D

No I do not strip the planes, do not waste your time. Just give them a quick and thin primer coat and voilà. It works even with the Black Swans planes.

I picked up a bunch of resin planes cheap on ebay when the game was officially cancelled, I find that they are perfect to practice until I feel that I am good enough to paint the planes that I really care about.

Working on 2 Québec planes, 2 RAF, 2 ISA and 2 Pirates.

I generally use either brake fluid or oven cleaner to remove the paint.
Apply it at night before bed wash it off [and the paint] in the morning . . . nothing could be easier.
