Re: Carrier Air Wing Saratoga

Interestingly enough, the Texas had a sister ship - the USS New York - which was stationed on the west coast (or possibly in Hawaii) when the nation collapsed. Perhaps President LaGuardia purchased the New York and the service contracts of the crew (those that were willing, anyway) to bring the ship...

Carrier Air Wing Saratoga

After the collapse of the United States, the Empire States acquired a handful of naval vessels including the fleet carrier Saratoga and the dreadnought battleship Texas , which had made its home port in New York. The Empire States rechristened the Texas as the ESS New York , and in 1932 began design...

Re: Strategies?

I know it's been over two years since anyone's replied to this thread, but Jarvis, if you have OpenOffice.org (an open-source Microsoft Office clone) installed on your computer, it has an "Export to PDF" option on the File menu.

Re: Britain in CS? The Abdication Crisis becomes Edward's Coup

Interestingly enough, Edward and "Bertie" had another brother - Prince Henry, the Duke of Gloucester (whose son, born in 1944, was named Richard). King Richard III had been the Duke of Gloucester before his coronation... perhaps we can work in some sort of scheme involving Henry manipulati...

Re: Leviathans

SO looking forward to this one - though the cost is a bit steep for my current budget. Currently downloading the QSR and the setting intro PDFs to check it out - maybe I'll pick up some 1:1200 scale ship models to convert...

Re: Britain in CS? The Abdication Crisis becomes Edward's Coup

I just have to say that I LOVED the 1995 film Richard III, and the only thing missing from the real 1930s Britain is a Richard... we've got a George and an Edward.

Happy New Year, and Kungaloosh! *places the heel of his right hand midway between his sternum and navel, fingers pointing outwards, and moves them like a swimming fish, then pantomimes knocking back a drink, then raises his right hand skyward in a salute* Kungaloosh! (Kungaloosh, for the uninformed,...

Re: Trains, Automobiles, & Boats

As early as 1910, General Motors included Buick (its original brand), Cadillac, Oldsmobile, Chevrolet, and GMC Truck (or at least its predecessors, Reliance Motor Truck and Rapid Motor Vehicle ). At various points through 1943, it also included the following brands: * Welch (1903–1911) * Rainier (19...

Re: The rest of the U.S.

On the topic of cruiser-to-carrier conversions, I had been working on a steampunk Spelljammer d20 game recently and stumbled upon this article which deals with the idea of bringing the old Iowa-class battleships back into service and outfitting them with dual flight decks, giving our Navy heavily-ar...
